- Abstract
- This study examines the moderating effects of firm size and multinationality on the relationship between standardization and timely completion of product development. It was empirically tested by a Korean sample to verify the validity of the research framework. The results show that the larger companies, the stronger the effect of standardization on timely completion of product development. In addition, the paper assessed the moderating effect of multinationality on the relationship between standardization and on-time completion of new product development. Contrary to expectation, the results indicate that multinationality negatively moderates the relationship between standardization and new product development timeliness. The negative direction of an interaction term (standardization × multinationality) suggests that the standardization-timely completion of product development relationship becomes weaker when the degree of multinationality increases.
