The Daekwang sand-dune of Imjado is a mega dune which has been formed behind the Daekwang beach with a length of 6.3km and 300~1,000m width. The Daekwang sand-dune has been developed in the form of fore-dune, and inside it are a number of U-shaped sand-dunes. The sand-dune land-form developed a gently sloping SE. The northwestern wind is the prevailing wind that affects the development of sand-dunes. The sand dune adjacent to the beach has the shape of a fore-dune, which has a longitudinal dune and a U-shaped dune at the back. Behind the fore-dune the development of a longitudinal dune and U-shaped dune are estimated. The fore-dune has the steepest slope among all others. The crest of the mean high tide is 2.5 ~ 3 m in height, and the height of a fore-dune is usually 3m ~ 5m, and its width, 30m ~ 50m. The vegetation of fore-dunes is settled by pine trees, brushes and sedges. During the steady state, there is almost no change in the dunes. Based upon the standpoint of evolution, the Daekwang sand-dune's landform is at a mature stage. Since the fore-dune's surrounders are destructed it is difficult to restore its original form. U-shaped sand-dunes are formed by the northwest-southeast direction wind which is open to the northwest. The width of thus sand-dune is 30 ~ 50m, it's direction, 290° ~ 320 ° with a length of 300 ~ 350m. The vegetation of U-shaped sand-dunes is in a established state, for it is currently stuck and is considered to be in a steady state. In conclusion, from the standpoint of evolution, U-shaped sand-dunes are in their final stage.-
