dc.description.abstractThe density of liquid Fe-Mn-C alloys was determined at temperatures ranging from 1687 K to 1834 K ( 1414 degrees C to 1561 degrees C) by using the advanced sessile drop method. Regression analysis of the experimental data produced the following description of the density of the Fe-Mn-C alloys: rho(Fe-Mn-C) [g/cm(3)] -{7.10 - 2.2 x WFM + 0.60 x WFM(2)) -(0.129 + 0.67 x WFM) x [wt pct C] + (1.45 x 10(-2) + 7.6 x 10(-2) x WFM) x [wt pct C](2)} - {1.83 x 10(-3) -(4.11 x 10(-5) + 1.7 x 10(-6) x WFM) x [wt pct C]} x (T - 1823) where WFM - [wt pct Mn]/[wt pct Mn] + [wt pct Fe] DOI: 10.1007/s11663-011-9555-9 (C) The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society and ASM International 2011-
