dc.description.abstractObjectives: This study aims at making of cognitive function, barthel activities of daily living and self-perceived health toward elders and demented elders. Methods: The subjects were 50 elders who resided in Seoul, Cheongju, Wonju, Yongin, Jecheon and 56 demented elders who entered 3 randomly selected geriatric hospitals in Seoul, Yongin. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews from March through May, 2011. T-test, Analysis of variance(ANOVA) were adopted in data analyses. Results: Most of the demented elders were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and had another diseases. There was significant difference of cognitive function, barthel activities of daily living between both elderly groups. But there was no significant difference of self-perceived health between both elderly groups. Conclusions: To make generalizations of the results, replication studies are needed. And the significant difference of cognitive function between both elderly groups means that this thesis supports the studies considering the suspicious groups of dementia with CDR 0.5 the portion of normal process of aging.-
