The MDR is an international standard developed by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32 to manage metadata in an organized way. A system or a registry developed based on the MDR is useful only for those who are able to conduct direct references to data sources. The system or the registry, however, is unable to extract the meanings of the data elements or to automatically interpret the meanings of them saved in the MDR. Consequently, the interoperability is not guaranteed. Aware of the problem, an XMDR is being carried out at the Berkeley to address the failure to define relations metadata of different registries. Nevertheless, the XMDR does not wholly support ontology technologies, and the XMDR has no method of mapping for Ontology registration into registries. To overcome the weakness of outdated registry MDR and XMDR, this paper proposed an extended XMDR (eXMDR) framework. The eXMDR framework has given a method of mapping for ontology registration between metadata registry and ontologies. To improve the functions of the XMDR, proposed herein a framework that is capable of defining a model that managing not only the relations among ontological concepts, but also instances, and their guarantee relationships management and storage for supporting valid relations of ontologies.-
