- Abstract
- This paper proposes a new automated construction method of ontology the EvolUtionary Ontology Construction and LEaRning (EULER) mechanism designed to advance Semantic Web Service. It utilizes a number of Web Service Description Language (WSDL) and XML Schemata in order to construct skeleton ontology (SKO) and service ontology (SVO). We developed construction and evolution algorithm that is used to resolve the conflicts that take place in the process of development of the SVO based on the SKO. While resolving the conflict, the EULER mechanism grew out of rule-based ontology learning. To evaluate the performance of the EULER mechanism in terms of hit ratio and precision, we compare the ontology constructs of the EULER ontology and references ontology. We also demonstrate the excellence of the EULER mechanism based upon its comparison with the different WSDL-based ontology construction methodologies called JANUS and Wessa. The EULER mechanism is expected to reduce the burden of knowledge engineers who endeavor to construct web service ontology.
