- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to develop a control strategy for Venetian blinds to improve the office workplane light environment. Venetian blinds provide protection against glare by blocking and reflecting the sunlight, and they also help reduce energy use. For Venetian blinds to perform best, the profile angle and the cut-off angle have to be defined. Base models (WWR-60%, TR-44%) and evaluation criterias (illuminance, illuminance ratio, glare index) have to be established. The office workplane light environment also has to be evaluated by the profile angle. Below are major findings. The cut-off angle performs best when the profile angle is from 10 to 70. The slat angle 0 provides better quality than the cut-off angle at the profile angle 80. Better light environment is established when the blind angle is near the cut-off angle. When the fixed angle is used for an entire year, the blind slat angle 30 gives the best quaility.
