- Abstract
- 최근 교과부가 추진하고 있는 2009년 교육과정 개편과 2014년 수능시험 개편안의 내용이 알려지면서 교육계와 학계가 술렁이고 있다. 특히 지리교육의 축소 기도는 우리 지리학과 지리교육을 위기 속으로 몰아놓고 있는 형편이다. 지리학에 대한 홀대는 정책입안자들의 몰이해에서 비롯된 측면이 매우 강하다. 이에 필자는 우리 학계를 성찰할 수 있는 계기를 마련하기 위하여 지리학이 학문으로서 점하고 있는 중요성과 지리교육의 필요성을 재음미해 보았다.
