Abstract
As the society has been changing rapidly, the demand and interests for the environmental information and data are also increasing. However, government's efforts for providing more valuable data to individuals are not sufficient. This study investigates the user satisfaction, trust, and perception on the environmental data using an web-based survey. The survey conducted in November 2008 responded a total of 1000 people. Key findings are as follows; first, group that had experience for using environmental data had a more environmental friendly behavior, used the environmental data more frequently, and put higher value on the environmental issues than the other group that had no experience in using the environmental data. Secondly, although the frequency of data use, the user satisfaction, and the trust on environmental data had no statistically significant inter-correlation, group or individual who had higher trust on environmental data had strongly positive perceptions on the convenience of data searching, and the faithfulness of content. Thirdly, the results of multiple regression analysis indicate that the higher credibility of environmental data affects the highest degree of satisfaction, and that individual's degree of satisfaction increases as he/she thinks that searching information is convenient or that using environmental data is easy. In conclusion, it is important to improve individual's trust on the environmental statistics in order to increase the level of user satisfaction on the environmental data. It is also necessary to enhance the convenience of data access, the usefulness of data, and the faithfulness of content to reach a higher level of satisfaction.
