- Abstract
- This paper aims to establish emotion verb category by considering features of typical emotion verbs, and to present the list of emotion verbs qualified to be in that category, and classify those verbs according to semantic types. Typical emotion verbs have Experiencer and Stimulus argument, and more subjective meaning. Besides they predicate state of mind, and represent emotion directly. Consequently, that category excludes several psych-verbs which take Theme argument. Some verbs which were categorized in emotion verb in preceding studies are reclassified under the category of sense verb, judgement verb, or action verb. Emotion verbs which are selected by these standards are classified under 19 emotion classes according to semantic types. The verbs are classified by expression structure which belongs to each of emotion types. Through classification of Korean emotion verbs, we can identify that subdivided emotions are expressed by various verbs.
