- Abstract
- The story height in tall buildings is significant factor in the central city due to the limited construction area. To obtain the lower story height, the authors developed a new composite beam which uses shallow asymmetric steel composite section with web openings, named iTECH system. The structural performances in terms of shear, moment were experimentally explored and proved to be acceptable by Korean Structural Design Code. Since the depth of the proposed beam is thinner than that of the classical steel composite beam, the vibration characteristics are questionable and have to be verified by the test. In this paper, the vibration performance of the proposed composite floor was explored by a series of field test. The natural frequency and damping were measured at three different construction steps; steel erection stage, concrete casting stage, and Finishing stage. The test results were compared with those by the international codes. As a result, the proposed composite floor showed good vibration characteristics which satisfy, requirements by the codes.
