- Abstract
- Apartment Housing, alike normal apartments, is one of the most common residential type in our country. This is a research to
support the elderly with convenient environment to live in harmony with other age groups in apartment housing.
The object of this research is to find out important designing elements that need to be considered if caring for the old and
feeble people in an apartment housing is important. This essay shows the change in the order of priority in designing when the
criteria is based on healthy adults and in case where elderly people are considered important. Also, concerning this matter, there
is a detail on how general people and designing specialist differ in their thoughts.
For this study, indoor and outdoor items for designing elements of apartment housing were researched. Based on this research,
survey was implemented. 173 samples from general group and 151 samples from specialist group were gathered. Analysis of the
samples show that there are not many difference in the importance of general elements between the two groups. Compared with
normal apartment housing types, supporting factors for feeble body and mind was considered important for apartment housing
that took into consideration the caring for elderly people.
