- Abstract
- Seiichi Yoshida asserted that modern Japanese writers performed theirliterary activities with the 10 year-cycle. This study is for the purpose for usto inspect his claim. It can be said that modern Japanese literature has beenformed in the process of the country accepting the modern western civilizationsbased on their traditional values. Modern japanese writers were divided intotwo groups. One took the positive attitudes towards their acceptance of theWestern civilizations, and the other group were under the vindication of theJapanese Empirical system of nationalism and the system of modern capitalism.
Modern Japanese writers developed their literary activities with a 10 yearcycle. In those cases, their styles had a chance to develop their literaryactivities like deaths, divorces, separations, movements, the departure from theirhomeland, the worse of their health, giving up writing, and being converted.
Especially, Modern Japanese writers interested the transformation from theWestern technology into the Japanese traditional minds along their ageing.
What does the modern Japanese literature, whitch was unfolded with a cycleof 20 years, and modern Japanese writers developed their literary activities witha period of 10 years mean? It is certain that modern japanese writers’ literaryactivities were based on their historical and social consciousness.
