- Abstract
- This article carries out a detailed analysis of introductions and contents of Jin-tae on, whose penname is Nam-chang, “Jo-seon-min-jok-sa-gae-ron”, “Woo-ri Min-jok-eui Geol-eo-on Gil”, “Guk-sa-dae-yo”, “Woo-ri Na-ra Mun-hwa”, and finds out the differences between hisbooks, and trace the transformation process of view of new nationalism history.
From the 1920s, Nam-chang studying abroad was a a-political nationalist that does not care a specific idealism like socialism. Around the liberation, he accepted the political idea of the new nationalism in order to resolve the conflicts of nation. Then, he suggested the new nationalism history in order to rationalize his political idea, but the color of idea in it faded away after the establishment of the government. The new nationalism history, that was suggested to resolve the ideological chaos after the liberation, was actually not in line with his ideological inclination. As we can't identify how his view changed because he was kidnapped by North Korea in 1950, and he did not write books any more, he might write books in line with an academic tradition which is similar with the tradition of positivist history that fits well with his idea, stopping himself as a new nationalism historian.
