Abstract
It is necessary to examine elaborately the historical experience, identity, and perception of reality of respective college students who played the main role in the 4・19 Democratic Movement in order to understand the substance and characteristic of student’s movement in ‘April Revolution’. The reason why this article analyzed Korea University is that the case of KU has the representativeness of college students’ thoughts and behaviors who took part in ‘April Revolution’ rather than its demonstration in 4.18 demonstration. In the late 1950s, Korea University students consisted of local students from all over the country. And KU Students conducted nationwide debates and organized college student’s network. Especially, KU student movement’s leaders, who operated the council of students in the democratic way and didn’t take part in the organizations under government control, could secure the moral justification and leadership The resolution of the leaders was the result of the accumulation of the continuous discussion and introspection on social justice from the low level. 4.18 KU student’s demonstration was the accumulated results of democratic practice and criticism of college students since the late 1950s. And their action resulted unintentionally in historical role, that is the origin of ‘Aril Revolution’.
