dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to functionally and biomechanically evaluate house shoes foot orthosis (FO), slipper FO, and correctional FO that was designed and made by critical reviews and market research on FO and provide feedback data to make comfortable FO with effective function and economical efficiency. The twenty-two subjects, who were divided into fifteen normals and seven excessive pronators, were recruited for this study. Gait analysis by Vicon system and two Kistler forceplates were performed and important indexes in three-dimensional angular and moment variables of left hip, knee and ankle joint were selected for statistical comparisons among the FOs with respect to control condition. Although all the three designed FO didn't show any differences in comfort with respect to control condition, indexes in angle and moment showed some differences among them. This suggested that the comfort was able to be independent from changes in biomechanical variables. For the biomechanical evaluation of the FOs the observation of moment index as well as angle index showed meaningful variables. Because the comfort of FOs could be dependent upon foot shape, it would be developed by applying standard foot morphology in Korean when producing basic FO. | - |
