- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to measure the world's inequality and polarization of the self-sufficient rate. We referred to the 136 nations' food self-sufficient rate. The inequality of 'Gini coefficient' and 'Atkinson index' are measured. In addition, 'Foster and wolfson index' and 'EGR index' are used to calculate the degree of polarization. Through Lerman and Yitzhaki's covariance method that decomposes Gini coefficient, we find the items that mainly contribute to the inequality of food self-sufficient rate. For the last 40 years, inequality and polarization of food self-sufficient rate have been intensified. The polarization has become severe than inequality. The main factor that contributes to the inequality of food self sufficient is identified to be the cereal.
