인간중심주의 디자인의 비판적 고찰 - 인간-사물의 관계적 전환

초록

Design Humanism is established as a central ideology underlying twentieth-century design, and with the defining principle that design exists “for humans” and elaborates the idea through specific theories and methodologies. Design theorists laid the foundation for the theory and practice “for humans,” established universality of design by arguing that design encompasses everything created “by humans.” Through the concepts of function, communication, and use, design developed perspectives on things for human and became firmly established as human-centered design from the late twentieth century onward. However, design has treated non-human things merely as tools for humans, revealing its limitations in adequately considering beings beyond the human. The perspective of action is significant because it leads to a “relational turn” that emphasizes the relationships between humans and non-human entities. This study critically examines the trajectory design more than human, and discusses alternatives for 21th design discourse and practice.
