국내 중등 교육과정을 이수한 외국인 대학생의 AI 리터러시 연구 - 외국인 대학생과 내국인 대학생의 비교를 중심으로 -

초록

This study aimed to analyze the patterns of generative AI use, levels of AI literacy, and educational needs related to generative AI among international undergraduate students who completed secondary education in Korea by comparing them with international undergraduate students and Korean undergraduate students. A survey of 166 students was conducted and analyzed. The results showed that international undergraduate students who completed secondary education in Korea differed significantly from Korean undergraduate students in the overall frequency of generative AI use, whereas no significant difference was found between them and international undergraduate students. In contrast, no significant differences were found among the three groups in overall AI literacy. All three groups showed high levels of AI utilization and AI self-efficacy, whereas their levels of AI understanding and AI ethics and practice were relatively low. In addition, no significant differences were found among the three groups in overall educational needs related to generative AI. However, all three groups showed high educational needs regarding academic use, prompt writing, AI tool selection and utilization strategies, and information verification and bias evaluation. This study is significant in that it identified international undergraduate students who completed secondary education in Korea as a distinct research group and analyzed their characteristics related to generative AI. The findings suggest the need to develop tailored education and support systems that take into account students’ experience of completing secondary education in Korea when providing generative AI education for international students at universities.
