로스쿨에서의 해상법을 포함한 운송법 강의와 연구

초록

Republic of Korean legal education system has been changed drastically since the Korean government adopted American-style law school system in 2007. As the 6th largest shipowning country and the 11th largest trade country, Republic of Korea has been heavily depended on the foreign trade. Most of transportation of commodities are carried out by the vessel. Maritime law deals with legal issues involved in the maritime transportation. If we reflect these circumstances of Korean economy correctly, the maritime law should be regarded as one of the most important subjects of commercial law. However, the situation in Korea is against this expectation. Only few law schools open maritime law courses. The author tries to explain the reason why the maritime law teaching is so important with empirical data such as total number of maritime lawyers in Korea and how we solve this lack of education under the newly adopted Korean law school system.
