Household type, gender, and digital literacy among older adults in South Korea

This study investigates the effect of household type, gender, and their potential interaction on the digital literacy of individuals aged 65 and above in South Korea. The study employs a group comparison design, with each comparison evaluated once using t-tests and multiple classification analysis. Results show that older adults living in multi-person households have higher levels of digital literacy than those living alone. Moreover, a significant interaction effect exists between household type and gender; that is, men living in multi-person households exhibit the highest proficiency in using mobile devices. This study offers helpful insights into the effect of household type on the digital literacy of older people.
