신문 기사에 나타난 한국어 '체면'의 어휘망 분석

초록

This study empirically analyzes the lexical network of the Korean word chemyeon(face) based on 647 newspaper articles collected from 2025 to March 2026. Using co-occurrence-based centrality analysis, the study adopts a two-tiered analytical framework distinguishing between a restricted context, focusing on passages where chemyeon directly appears, and a full discourse context, encompassing entire article texts. The analysis reveals that shared concept nodes across both contexts can be categorized into four dimensions: the mechanism of chemyeon, social relationality, psychological evaluation, and discursive context. While the restricted context foregrounds individual psychological and emotional dimensions, the full discourse context shows chemyeon closely coupled with public normative language. Political and judicial power elites emerge as primary agents, confirming that chemyeon functions as a language of public evaluation in the contemporary public sphere. Comparison with a prior study based on academic abstracts demonstrates that, unlike the Confucian and moral framing of chemyeon in academic discourse, chemyeon in newspaper discourse is reconstructed as a practical discourse that mediates between justification and pragmatic interest.
