한글 맞춤법 관리 방법 개선에 대한 기초 연구

초록

This study aims to stipulate the concept of Hangeul Orthography(HO) management and look for further method. This paper reviewed the history of HO management focusing on the process of dissemination and ‘Fundamental Law of Korean’ enactment. By reviewing the previous papers, it was confirmed that ‘the legal status of HO’, and the method of ‘education’ and ‘publicity’ are important so as to manage HO effectively. In order to explore effective ways to manage HO, a general survey of the awareness of experts who are korean linguists, journalist, editors, teachers of korean and korean policy experts was made. The summarized results show: (1) Many experts stated that the current legal status not compelling observance did not powerfully influence on language life. The language use on the Internet showed more tendency to violate HO. (2) By comparison, there were many opinions that the current legal status of HO powerfully influence on the language policy. However, some experts pointed out that the language use of mass media and public organizations should be regulated more severly with Hangeul Orthography. (3) The majority of the experts considered that current legal status of Ho is appropriate. (4) Many experts suggested that various media be utilized for educating HO. Furthermore, some experts argued that HO should play a more significant role in educational curriculum of Korean language According to the survey results above, the management of HO may maintain the current legal status. Yet the HO should be play a bigger role as the formal standard for people to use correct Korean grammar. In addition, HO should induce public to use good grammar by media, and expand scope and depth of HO education.
