Transnational Identity and Mutual Trust in Northeast Asian Countries

This paper explores the potential for building an East Asian Community by examining transnational identity and mutual trust among Northeast Asian countries. As globalization fosters interdependence, cultural and historical conflicts persist, hindering cooperation. The study emphasizes the need for a paradigm shift towards enhancing regional soft power based on trust and shared values, beyond mere economic exchanges. Analyzing data from the Asia Barometer survey, the findings highlight both opportunities and challenges for regional integration. The goal is to promote mutual understanding and propose strategies for sustainable cooperation, contributing to peace and economic development in Northeast Asia
