忠烈王妃 齊國大長公主의 冊封과 그 의미

초록

King Chungnyeol[忠烈王] installed his wife, Queen Jeguk[齊國大長公主] who is a daughter of Kubilai Khan, as ‘Princess Wonseong[元成]’ rather than the Queen. He did that because he wanted to be officially confirmed as the King and a son-in-law of the Emperor from Yuan[元] and Goryeo[高麗]. Moreover, Queen Jeguk did not have any kind of eulogistic titles from the court of Yuan until she get married. It is understandable that the fact that his wife was called by her own name, ‘OutlughKelmish’[忽都魯揭里迷失] without any kind of eulogistic titles made King Chungnyeol accustomed to the eulogistic titles consider that his wife did not have any official eulogistic title from Yuan Dynasty. Therefore, he had to install his wife as 'Princess' of Yuan rather than the Queen of Goryeo on behalf of him and his wife. In addition to this, he announced that his wife is the rightful Princess of Yuan by presenting Tangmokeup[湯沐邑] to her. However, the title of ‘Princess Yuanseong’ that King Chungnyeol gave Queen Jeguk was given not by Yuan Dynasty, but by Goryeo, which could be criticized as exceeding the authority of Yuan. Hence, King Chungnyeol was desperate to have Yuan installed his wife, and this was realized after Kubilai Khan died. His wife was installed as Princess Ahnpyeong[安平] at the first year of Temür Khan, Emperor Chengzong of Yuan. However, the process of the installation was not smooth at all. It was because of not only the prejudice of Temür Khan considering her as no princess, but also the political undertone of the installation. Goryeo’s demand did not only mean the change of the title. Goryeo also required Yuan to present Tangmokeup[湯沐邑] to her wife. This was the reason of why Temür Khan hesitated to install her. In the end, Temür Khan installed her as Princess Ahnpyeong and gave her Ahnpyeong as Tangmok by Goryeo’s persistent demand. Princess Jeguk[齊國] was officially announced as the Princess of Yuan. From the point of view of King Chungnyeol, the installation of Princess Ahnpyeong has a clear political meaning. It was the completion of unification of the twofold status of the King of Goryeo.
