Proposals for Improving Local Revitalization for Isolated and Reclusive Single-Person Youth Households –Tactical Urbanism Based Community Public Design-; 고립·은둔 1인 청년 가구를 위한 지역 활성화 개선 제안-택티컬 어바니즘 기반 커뮤니티 공공디자인을 중심으로-

Background The number of single-person households in modern society continues to increase, exacerbating issues of isolation and reclusion due to the weakening of social networks. The isolation of young single-person households leads to social and economic challenges, that require local solutions. Tactical urban planning is a user-centered DIY urban planning method that improves public value by utilizing idle spaces in the region. This study aims to solve the problem of isolation and hiding of single-person youth households through Tactical Urbanism. Methods User experiences are investigated through surveys and in-depth interviews, and data are analyzed using various statistical analysis methods and qualitative research methods such as open coding, axis coding, and selective coding. Based on the derived insights, we propose an improvement direction for community public design and regional revitalization. Results The analysis suggests that it is necessary to expand the culture and arts experience, public design of user-centered libraries and communities, and effective use of idle spaces. Based on this, practical alternatives were suggested, focusing on community public design for the formation of social networks and regional revitalization of youth. Conclusions The direction of community public design based on tactical urbanism is effective in solving the problem of isolation and hiding of single-person youth households. This study presents six alternative directions: expanding opportunities for cultural and artistic experience, introducing user-centered library public design, supporting public design for community revitalization, effectively utilizing local representative spaces, reorganizing idle land spaces, and sharing social lifestyles. To enhance community solidarity and to improve the quality of life for single-person youth households, we propose strategies aimed at reducing social isolation and building consensus to alleviate stress. Additionally, personalized support should be provided to help individuals discover their interests and goals.
