초록

This paper aims to investigate vocal nonverbal factors in speaking assessment in orther to contribute developing an education program to improve speaking skills. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted: 12 (6 male and 6 female) speakers were asked to deliver a speech based on the same script and slide prepared by the author(s) and their speeches were assessed by 100 assessors. The role of the vocal nonverbal elements affecting the speaking assessment were examined, based on the assessors’ assessment reports. Since verbal elements and nonvocal nonverbal elements were controlled by providing the subjects with the speech materials and the assessors with only recorded sound files, the differences in assessment scores can be assumed to result from the vocal nonverbal elements that each subject used.
