초록

The correlation between the size and mechanical property of the surface contacts of the brake lining and the stick-slip characteristics is studied using a Krauss tester and a scaled dynamometer. Sintered pellets produced using the ground powder of four commercial brake linings are used to estimate the mechanical property of the contacts. The results show that the stick-slip intensity is governed by the size distribution and shear strength of the contacts, suggesting that the low noise propensity of the brake lining can be achieved by avoiding the formation of large and high strength contacts through formulation optimization.
