초록
This study aimed to examine the moderated mediation effect of regular physical activity on the relationship between chronic conditions and depressive symptoms among older adults, with subjective life expectancy (SLE) as a mediator. Data were drawn from the 9th wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA, 2022), comprising 6,029 individuals aged 59 and older. A moderated mediation analysis was conducted using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS Macro 5.0 (Model 7). The results showed that chronic conditions had a negative effect on subjective life expectancy, and SLE in turn was negatively associated with depressive symptoms. In addition, regular physical activity moderated the effect of chronic conditions on SLE, and a significant moderated mediation effect was observed across the entire pathway. These findings provide theoretical and practical implications by integrating physical health, future time perception, and emotional well-being in understanding the psychosocial mechanisms of mental health in later life.
