초록
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of low-intensity resistance training followed by heat stress on resting metabolic rate, anabolic hormones, and myokines in obese adult men. Thirty obese men who had not participated in regular exercise for the previous three months were recruited and randomly assigned to three groups: low-intensity resistance training with heat stress (LRTHS), high-intensity resistance training (HRT), and heat stress (HS). All participants completed a 12-week intervention. Body composition, resting metabolic rate, anabolic hormones (growth hormone and IGF-1), and myokines (myostatin and irisin) were assessed before and after the intervention. The results showed that skeletal muscle mass significantly increased and body fat percentage significantly decreased in the LRTHS and HRT groups. Resting metabolic rate also significantly increased in these two groups. Growth hormone significantly increased in the LRTHS and HRT groups, whereas IGF-1 significantly increased in all groups. Myostatin significantly decreased in the LRTHS and HRT groups, while irisin did not show significant changes in any group. These findings suggest that low-intensity resistance training followed by heat stress may improve body composition, anabolic hormonal responses, and resting metabolic rate, and may serve as an effective alternative strategy for obese adult men who have difficulty performing high-intensity resistance training.
