신경림의 『농무』의 판본 변화와 창비시선(詩選) 1번의 형성

초록

This study examines how Shin Kyung-rim's poetry collection Nongmu moved from its 1973 self-published first edition to a 1974 reprint (with the imprint changed) and finally to the 1975 expanded edition that became “Changbi Poetry Series No. 1,” and it explains why this unusual editorial decision gained significance within the realist/engaged-literature debates of the 1970s (from “civic literature” to “people’s/minjung literature”). While the first edition drew wide attention through its plain diction and “real” depiction of everyday rural life ― capturing lowercase “minjung” through laughter, self-mockery, and even tawdriness ― the expanded edition strategically reinforced tones of grief, death, and resistance by adding poems such as “River,” “Legend,” and “In the Dark,” thereby complementing the collection's perceived emphasis on inclusiveness with a stronger sense of combativeness. The article argues that this expansion functioned as an intentional editorial project that established Nongmu as the symbolic starting point of the Changbi series, shaped its aesthetic program ― plain language, emotional clarity, and reflective depth rooted in social reality ― and ultimately helped redirect the course of modern Korean poetry.
