Effects of Whole Body Vibration Exercise on Pulse Wave Velocity and Brain Activity of in Patients with Senile Dementia

초록

The purpose of this study is to present the clinical effects of whole body vibration exercise on senile dementia patients by analyzing what kind of effects it has on the pulse wave velocity and brain activation of thirty mild-moderate senile dementia patients compared to both walking and non-exercise by applying ten weeks of whole body vibration exercise. The conclusions resulting from all the process of experiment are as follows. 1. The change in b-aPWV of both in WVG and WEG due to exercise type showed significant difference(p<.05) compared to NEG. 2. The change in the Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4 of attention concentration quotient(SMR/theta) in WVG and WEG due to exercise type showed significant difference(p<.05) compared to NEG. However there no difference observed T3, T4, P3, P4 of attention concentration quotient. 3. The change in the Fp1, Fp2, F3 of activity quotient(low beta/theta) in WVG and WEG due to exercise type showed significant difference(p<.05) compared to NEG, and F4 of activity quotient in WVG due to exercise type showed significant difference(p<.05). However there no difference observed T3, T4, P3, P4 of activity quotient. Concluding from the experimental results listed above, the whole body vibration exercise is proven to be the most effective exercise type for treating senile dementia patients.
