초록

The first insurance company of Korea was the Hosang Insurance company which was founded in 1892. The company was an insurance company only in name, and was in fact a privileged company which collected taxes after constructing the pier of Busan port. The first insurance company which promised the distribution of insurance money was the Dae-Joseon Insurance company which was founded in 1897. The object of insurance of this company was ox, and the insurance money of the company was from 40 nyang(냥) to 100 nyang. The company was abolished before long by reasons of obligatory insurance, etc. Daehan Empire "Mubon" Insurance company was founded in 1899. The insurance object of the company was ox, as before. The insurance bill paid to the company was 1.5 nyang per one ox. Every year, the insurance goods received from the company was ox. The company was organized with the Head office, the branch offices and other secondary branch offices. The company dispatched Seoul staff members to the branch offices, and sent provincial staff members to the secondary offices. There were 100 people at the Head office. The investment of staff members each was 400 won(10,000 nyang), therefore the total capital was 40,000 won(1,000,000 nyang). Staff members of the secondary branch offices did not offer investment to the Head office, and invested purchase of ox as they wished. The secondary branch offices dealt with all of the insurance. On the other hand, the Head office received some commission from them. The Head office and secondary branch offices operated in a dual fashion. Eventually the Head office became a symbiont of the secondary branch offices. Daehan Empire Mubon Insurance company was abolished by reason of obligatory insurance etc, before long.
