Impacts of China's Trade on Sectoral Employment Rates

초록

As China 's economy entered the 'New Normal', China's growth strategy is revised from quantitative growth to qualitative growth. This study analyzes the impact of both interregional and international trade on sectoral employment rates using a fixed effects model with a robust standard error considering the regional characteristics of China. Empirical results show that the impacts vary depending on the economic area. In the Eastern-Coastal area, dominant forms of trade differ according to the sectoral employment rates. However, in the Northeast, the effects of both interregional and international trade are only valid on the private employment rate. In the Central and Western areas, the effect of job creation is evident. Notably, the growth of the Western area is the most noticeable. This means that economic indicators improve as the balanced development policy becomes stable. Moreover, the increase in interregional trade, caused by the increase in international trade, intensifies the integration between economic areas. In conclusion, capital inflow and employment growth through interregional and international trade reduce the regional disparity.
