기념시설을 활용한 역사교육 : 독일의 경험에 대한 검토

초록

The paper reviews concepts, theories, and methods of education programs at Nazi historical memorial sites in Germany in order to clarify, how a memorial site contributes to historical education in general. It shows that history education at memorial sites has meaning in three points: first, it helps students raise question and seek an answer by themselves; second, it concentrates on learning from the history rather than on learning history itself; third, it gives numerous chances to come to terms with the burdensome past emotionally as well as cognitively. German experiences show evidently how the schools and school authorities cooperate with memorial sites. To make memorial site's education more effective, visiting memorial sites should be incorporated into curricula and proper before- and after-program have to be implemented in the class.
