초록

Fluorophores play a pivotal role in the contemporary biomedical field due to their versatile interaction with a diverse range of biomolecules and organisms. They are revolutionizing methodologies aimed at studying biological processes and biomolecules that perform specific functions within organisms. Regrettably, a significant proportion of traditional fluorophores are susceptible to aggregation-induced quenching (ACQ). This phenomenon results in reduced labeling efficiency and increased vulnerability to photo- bleaching in target analytes, significantly limiting their potential for broader biomedical applications. By contrast, aggregation- induced emission (AIE) provides a unique molecular framework for facilitating the interaction between AIE luminogens (AIEgens) and biomolecules/organisms both in vivo and in vitro. . Thus, a comprehensive summary of the interaction between the AIEgens and biomolecules/organisms for detection, imaging, and targeted therapeutic applications promises coverage of an emergent and expansive research domain with the potential to replace conventional disease diagnosis and treatment modalities.
