초록

Nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) cavities provide deterministic control of light-matter interactions and routinely reach subnanometer field confinement, yet reliable numerical modeling remains challenging because angstrom-scale gaps must be reconciled with nm-scale particles, open scattering boundaries, modal hybridization, and atomic-scale morphology. In this Perspective, we consolidate a practical workflow for NPoM simulations using widely used commercial differential- equation-based solvers (COMSOL Multiphysics and CST Studio Suite). We outline geometry construction, boundary and perfectly matched layer choices, adaptive meshing and convergence checks, mode identification, and spectral matching of simulated scattering cross sections to single-particle dark-field data for structural inference. We additionally discuss symmetry reduction, complementary integral-equation-based alternatives, and representative extensions to emitter-coupled nanocavities, picocavities, and mesoscopic/nonclassical boundary conditions based on Feibelman d-parameters. Collectively, these guidelines lower the entry barrier to robust NPoM modeling and are intended to serve as a practical benchmark reference for both experimental and theoretical researchers.
