This study was designed to examine the effect of combined exericse training on balance in patients with post-stroke hemiparesis. Twenty-four individuals with chronic stroke volunteered to participate in this study. The number of subjects in each group was as follows: combined xeercise group (CEG: n=8), balance exercise group (BEG: n=8), and conservative exercise group (ConEG: n=8). Subjects in CEG performed balance exercise training with (15min) and conservative exercise training (15min), subjects in BEG performed only balance exercise training (30min) and subjects in ConEG performed only conservative exercise training (30min) for weeks(50 minutes, a day 5 times a week). Assessment tools were made with Balance System SD. In contrast comparison, CEG showed improvement in all parametesr, and BEG showed improvement in overall balance only, while ConEG found no improvement in all parameters. In two-way repeated measure ANOVA comparison, the change values of the overall balance appeared to be significantly greater for the CEG than those of the other group (p<0.001). These findings suggest that combined exercise training may be afvorably used to improve balance in patients with chronic post-stroke hemiparessi . Further studies with larger sample and long-term follow-up epriod need to generalize the results of this study
