초록

Magnetic flux concentrators significantly enhance the detection sensitivity of compact magnetic sensors by amplifying external magnetic fields into a localized volume. Leveraging these unique properties, flux concentrators have been widely applied across various magnetometer platforms, including quantum sensors based on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. In this work, we investigate and optimize the design and geometry of flux concentrators to maximize field amplification and sensitivity in NV magnetometry. Through comprehensive magnetic field simulations, we evaluate several geometries, including circular trumpet and cone designs, and identify the trumpet geometry as the most effective in achieving high field amplification and enhanced sensitivity. Experimental validation using NV magnetometers confirms that the trumpet design outperforms conventional cone-shaped flux concentrators, providing a ~ 10% higher magnetic field gain and a ~ 20% improvement in sensitivity. These findings demonstrate that optimization of flux concentrator geometries can significantly enhance the performance of quantum magnetometers. © The Korean Physical Society 2025.
