Ophthalmic Genetics accepts original papers, review articles and short communications on the clinical and molecular genetic aspects of ocular diseases. The journal invites several types of contributions divided into sections:

/// Reviews and perspectives - Invited and uninvited reviews in ophthalmic genetics or related topics. May include synopsis of current literature on a specific topic.
/// Research reports - Original research material on the clinical and molecular genetic aspects of the ocular disorders.
/// Expedited articles - Reserved for molecular genetic studies needing prompt publication to set record of discovery.
/// Short communications/Case reports - Articles dealing with single cases. No limitations on size of manuscripts.
