- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to determine the changes of ankle joint angle and ground reaction forces (GRF) according to three types of shoes in females with plantar fasciitis. Three types of shoes were tested: sandals, flat shoes, and sneakers. Forty seven females (mean age: 33.18±7.17, age range: 21-54) with plantar fasciitis participated in this study. The 3-dimentional motion analysis system with six infrared ray cameras and two force plates were used to measure biomechanical parameters of ankle joint angle and GRF during gait. The collected variables are analyzed in one-way ANOVA with repeated measurements to compare whether the ankle joint angle and GRF were different between three shoes at different types. In results, low heel shoes such as sandals and flat shoes makes ankle joint angle more dorsiflexed, abducted, and inversed(p<0.05). It also makes absorb less shock against GRF on X, Y, Z axis(p<0.05). In conclusions, wearing low heel shoes modifies abnormal gait pattern and increases ankle pronation and GRF which may increase the risk of plantar fasciitis.
