Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effect of circuit training on body composition, life style disease-related blood components and feeling scale in obese children. Ten children who are 10-13yrs were randomly assigned to either circuit training(CT; n=5) or aerobic training(AT; n=5). Participants participated in circuit or aerobic training program 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Exercise intensity were 65-85% HRR and 40-60% HRR respectively while caloric expenditure per training session were approximately 350 kcal in both groups. The followings were measured before and after training intervention: Body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, lifestyle disease-related blood components. Feeling scale was rated once a week for 6 weeks. As a result, CT and AT were effective for body composition, lifestyle disease-related blood components. Compared with AT, CT was effective for cardiorespiratory fitness, feeling scale. In conclusion, as well as aerobic training, circuit training is an effective way to improve body composition, lifestyle disease-related blood components. However, circuit training is more effective in improving cardiorespiratory fitness, feeling scale than aerobic training. Moreover, Our results suggest that circuit training can be an effective way to prevent dropout during exercise program due to low level of cardiorespiratory fitness and concentration.
