- Abstract
- This study was conducted to obtain preliminary data on the effect of installing flower sculptures in space decoration. Three flower sculptures and three regular sculptures were installed in a hospital and a cafe, and 100 visitors were asked for their opinions. Following is the analysis of their answers. Regarding the ability to recognize the difference between flower sculptures and regular sculptures, 83.0% of the surveyees were able to distinguish clearly between flower sculptures and regular sculptures. Analysis of the results on the awareness of flower sculptures showed only 20.0% was aware of flower sculptures. Regarding the commercial value of flower sculptures, those over the age of 40 saw more commercial value in flower sculptures compared to those in their 20’s and 30’s.
Overall, in a society that is becoming urbanized and modernized, the preference for naturalization of humans or to be environmentally- friendly is increasing, and provides a basis for the possibility of flower sculptures to increase in value in the area of space design. However, there aren’t many examples of flower sculptures to be used in commercial spaces, and the necessity to clean-up after the discharge of floating materials has been pointed out.
If these faults are supplemented in the future, the expansion in the use of flower sculptures as decoration in commercial spaces can be anticipated.
