- Abstract
- In this Letter, a new antipodal linearly tapered slot antenna (ALTSA) with unequal half-circular slots (UHCS) embedded on both edge-sides is proposed to improve an antenna gain. The proposed antenna operates over the frequency band from 3.1 GHz to more than 10.6 GHz, which is assigned to Ultra-Wideband wireless communications. The proposed antenna has been improved in a gain and reduced to backward radiation due to the unequal half-circular slots on the ALTSA. The measured antenna gains are improved by up to 3.5 dB. The side lobe levels are lowered by about -14.8 and -7.2 dB in the E- and H-planes at 7 GHz, respectively. (C) 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
