Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the impacts of an increase in the export of paprika on the market equilibrium and social welfare. The optimal quantity share of export within total production, which yields maximum producer price, is simulated under various price elasticities of demand. For conducting the simulations, price elasticity of demand for the domestic market is estimated and that for the Japanese market, which is the main target of the export of paprika, is estimated too. Estimation results indicate Japanese consumers are more responsive to the change in price of paprika compared with Korean consumers. Simulation results show that an increase in the quantity exported to Japanese market would result in the rise in the producer price of paprika in Korea.
