- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to compare 'senior fitness test (SFT)' and 'Nottingham activities of daily living index (EADL)' of senior people who have trained Tai-Chi for exercise more than 6 months with those of senior people who just have maintained daily life. According to the study comparing the group of 14 people who have exercised based on Tai-Chi for a long time with the other group of 12 people who have maintained daily life, the figures of the group with Tai-Chi exercise shows 54.73%(t=3.597, p=.001) higher on the Arm curl test of SFT, 41.59%(t=3.039, p=.006) higher on the 2 minutes of running stamp, and 8.3%(t=2.366, p=.026) higher on EADL than the other group. This study is conducted to compare 'senior fitness test (SFT)' and 'Nottingham activities of daily living index (EADL)' of the group of senior people who have trained Tai-Chi for exercise with the other group of senior people who just have maintained daily life. Based on the test results, we have found that exercising based on Tai-Chi could reinforce the basal physical fitness and improve the quality of life(QOL) of seniors. Additional study will be necessary about long-term effects from the continuous exercise for more than a year.
