- Abstract
- This study focuses on the comparison of work values among employees at Korean electronics companies in Malaysia, Mexico, and Philippines to confirm the 'convergence or divergence' argument in international human resource management literature. Also it investigates the impact of Hofstede work values to affective commitment, continuance commitment, and satisfaction of local employees. Findings suggest that the employees in three countries evaluate those work values quite differently from the other samples. The relationship between work values and commitment and satisfaction was also quite different among the three countries, which strongly support the 'divergence' argument. Analyses also indicate that Korean firms in those countries need to make more effort to meet the needs of local employees in such specific areas as work environment, promotion, and job diversity.
