- Abstract
- This paper aims to establish the synchronic paradigm of pre-final endings belonging to the ‘-saop-’ class in terms of their distributions and their morphological relations. ‘-sao-’ had been an allomorph of ‘-sap-’ in Middle Korean. However, ‘-sao-’ has become an allomorph of ‘-saop-’ in Present-day Korean as ‘-saop-’ class' paradigm has been changed. Also, ‘-sap-’, ‘-saop-’ and ‘-sao-’ have become defective paradigms which have some restrictions of their distributions. These phenomena resulted from the fact that they have become persistences which had been pushed out of the original morpheme.
