- Abstract
- 본 연구에서는 한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단조사 1~3차년도 데이터를 사용하여 방과후학교 참여가 중학생의 사교육 수요에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 방과후학교 프로그램의 효과를 엄밀하게 규명하기 위해 로짓모형 및 토빗모형과 함께 사교육 참여 과정에서 발생하는 선택편의를 보정하기 위한 헤크만모형(Heckman model), 방과후학교 참여 학생과 비참여 학생 간 배경변인 차이에 의해 발생하는 선택편의를 제거하기 위한 경향점수 매칭 모형(propensity score matching model)등 다양한 분석방법을 활용하였다. 연구결과는 중학교 2학년에서 3학년으로 진급하는 과정에서 방과후학교 참여가 사교육 참여 및 지출 규모에 별다른 영향을 미치지 않음을 일관되게 보여주었다. 이러한 연구결과는 사교육비 경감 대책으로서 방과후학교가 소기의 목적을 달성하지 못하고 있음을 시사한다.
