- Abstract
- The effects of ultrasound on the total mass, dewaterability, turbidity, and coliform counts of livestock waste sludge were investigated. The study involved laboratory tests and a pilot plant experiment under various test conditions including treatment time, ultrasonic energy level, and sludge volume. Laboratory test results showed that ultrasound caused the decreases in sludge particle size, capillary suction time, and coliform counts. The results of the pilot plant experiment proved that ultrasonic treatment significantly enhances the dewaterability, volume, mass, and water content of sludge.
